History

In 1951, Mrs. Chiang, Shi Ching-Yi, founded the Chingshin pre-school and kindergarten with the two-fold mission of creating a school that would stand at the forefront of education and ease the financial burden on military and public service families with young children.

Sadly, Mrs. Chiang, Shi Ching-Yi passed away due to illness in 1953. Wishing to honor and preserve his wife's legacy, General Wei-Kuo Chiang, took up her passion for education and turned his attention to the school.

In 1956, the Board of Directors privately funded the establishment of Chingshin Elementary School. The following year, the Board of Directors acquired property for a new campus on Hsing-Long Road in Taipei’s Wen-Shan District, and the elementary and kindergarten moved to the school’s current location.

The school expanded with the completion of the Middle School building in 1968, and the incorporation of the kindergarten a subsidiary of the elementary school in 1975.

Today, the school hosts 16 middle school classes, 36 elementary school classes, and 15 kindergarten and nursery school classes, and employs nearly 200 faculty and staff members.

Gratitude

Chingshin has grown significantly over the 60 years sinceGeneral Wei-Kou Chiang(1916-1997) found the school. During his lifetime, General Wei-Kou met people from all over the world, and his international vision has greatly influenced the direction and character of the school.

Prospect

The tremendous efforts and outstanding performances of Chingshin's teachers and students have earned the school a stellar reputation among both local and overseas communities. Building on this legacy of excellence, the school's future looks bright, indeed.

Building for the future, in August 2008, the school opened the Integrated Teaching Building, which hosts an auditorium and swimming pool, and is equipped to meet the various needs of a school with a modern educational curriculum.

With a view to extending the school’s mission of educating students to value mindfulness, vitality, progress, and excellence, the Board of Directors is preparing to establish a senior high school.
